Vacheron Constantin Historic American 1921 100th Anniversary New Product

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the high-end watchmaker replica Vacheron Constantin cult watch, Historiques American 1921. As if to commemorate this, Watches and Wonders Geneva 2021 unveiled a total of three versions of the new product. It consists of a white gold version in two sizes, 40mm and 36.5mm for men’s and women’s, and a 40mm platinum version to commemorate the 100th anniversary of American 1921. The Historic American 1921 is a lineup that inherits the heritage of the company’s historic Driver’s replica watches, produced in small batches for the American market in the 1920s. The Historic American 1921, designed to allow you to check the time without turning your wrist when you hold the steering wheel, sets it apart from its contemporaries with its elegant cushioned case, an asymmetrical display that tilts slightly to the side, and an off-center crown located on top of the case profile. The unique design elements that have been developed are inherently destined for the iconic watch.
With its elegant yet understated design and avant-garde elements, the American 1921 has long been talked about and legendary among vintage watch enthusiasts. It has established itself as one of the signature fake watches that come to mind.
In celebration of the 100th anniversary, the three new Historic American 1921s are outwardly indistinguishable from the successful Pink Gold or Platinum versions. Iconic features such as the distinctive diagonal display of time and the slanted crown along the dial are repeated over and over again. Since it is a lineup with a strong originality, it may be rather strange to make a big change.
As the first two-size white gold version of the Historic American 1921 series was introduced, the silver-coloured dial is grained to give a rough texture, and the Arabic numeral indexes tilted about 45 degrees from the center to the right and the railroad-shaped minutes. Tracks are black printed. The open-tip hands indicating the hour and minute and the small second hand, like the previous pink gold version, are made of 18K gold with a subtly black or anthracite color scheme.
Although only the case material, dial color and detail have been changed, it has a very different feel from the existing pink gold version. While the former feels old-fashioned and elegant, the new white gold version of the latter has a dandy and masculine impression. Maybe the white gold material and color itself have a big influence on the serious feeling?
The movement is equipped with the same in-house manual caliber 4400 AS, both in the men’s 40mm version and in the unisex or women’s 36.5mm version. Consisting of 127 parts and 21 jewels, the 4400 AS caliber vibrates 28,800 per hour (4 hertz) and has a power reserve of around 65 hours.
Through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback, you can admire the unique high-end movement with the Geneva Hallmark (Geneva certified). For reference, the case waterproof specification is 30m. Although the movement thickness (2.8mm) is not ultra-thin, it is quite thin, so the case thickness of the 40mm version is 8.06mm and the 36.5mm version is 7.41mm.
