Longines Silver Arrow Watches
Longines Silver Arrow is a modern interpretation of the watch model introduced by the manufacturer in the 1950s, which connected the worlds of sports cars and aviation.
The adventure of the “Silver Arrow” watch began in 1955, when Longines organized an in-house name contest for a new, avant-garde-inspired replica watches model. A total of 450 proposals were received, forming the final name “Silver Arrow”. The name referred to the dominant, futuristic-looking sports cars of the era.
The first “Silver Arrow” watch was introduced at the Longines factory in 1956. At that time, each manufacturer’s watch collection had its own logo, and the Silver Arrow symbol became a supersonic plane flying through the stars describing speed.
Following the example, the design language of the novelty presented here is streamlined and recognizable, technically shifted to the present day. Specifically, this means that the watch, packed in 38.5 millimeter steel shells, has a convex glass made of sapphire crystal with reflection protection, as well as an anti-magnetic automatic mechanism with a good 72 hours of operation.
Traditions are represented by the watch’s vintage-inspired silver opaline dial with hour indexes familiar from the original design, as well as arrow-shaped hands. The set is complemented by a brown leather bracelet with a classic buckle.
Silver Arrow is once again a good indication of how rich Longines has a product catalog. Stylistically, the novelty sits perfectly for business-like attire and also for the most festive occasions. Due to its size, the watch today meets the definition of a unisex watch, so the watch is suitable for both men and women. The recommended price of the watch is 1,980 euros and deliveries to retailers will start in February. The watch has a five-year international warranty.
